Market Now: Nifty Metal index trades flat; NALCO, Coal India among losers
NEW DELHI: Metal & mining stocks Hindustan Copper (down 1.47 per cent), National Aluminium Company (NALCO) (down 0.74 per cent), Coal India (down 0.60 per cent) and NMDC (down 0.40 per cent) were trading in the negative territory in afternoon trade on Tuesday.
The Nifty Metal index was trading flat at 3,792 around 12:15 pm (IST).
Shares of Jindal Steel & Power (down 0.35 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (down 0.29 per cent), Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 0.23 per cent), Tata Steel (down 0.20 per cent) and Vedanta (down 0.14 per cent) were also losing in trade.
However, shares of APL Apollo Tubes (up 1.08 per cent), Hindalco Industries (up 0.80 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 0.63 per cent), MOIL (up 0.57 per cent) and JSW Steel (up 0.30 per cent) were trading up around that time.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 34 points down at 10,191, while the BSE Sensex was 94 points down at 32,939.
Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.
Among the gainers in the Nifty50 index, pharma and auto stocks were leading. Lupin, Cipla, Aurobindo Pharma, Hero MotoCorp, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, UPL, Hindalco, HCL Technologies and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the top gainers.
On the contrary, Bharti Infratel, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Asian Paints were among the losers.
