Market Now: Nifty Auto index lone sectoral gainer on NSE; Apollo Tyres up 3%
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto was trading as the lone gainer among sectoral indices on NSE in afternoon trade on Wednesday.
The Nifty Auto index was 0.30 per cent up at 11,190 around 12:20 pm (IST), with shares of Apollo Tyres (up 2.87 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 2.36 per cent) and MRF (up 2.26 per cent) as the top gainers.
Shares of Eicher Motors (up 1.82 per cent), Tata Motors (DVR) (up 1.47 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (up 1.13 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 0.92 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.56 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.36 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.14 per cent) were also trading up.
However, shares of Bosch (down 1.05 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 1.01 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (down 0.83 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 0.80 per cent), Exide Industries (down 0.38 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (down 0.26 per cent) were witnessing selling pressure around that time.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 38 points down at 10,148, while the BSE Sensex was 115 points down at 32,827.
Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 18 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.
Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Eicher Motors, Tech Mahindra, Ambuja Cements and Indian Oil Corporation were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.
However, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Sun Pharma, Hindalco Industries, Vedanta, Indiabulls Housing Finance and HCL Technologies were among the top losers.
