Market Now: HPCL, BPCL drag BSE Oil & Gas index down
NEW DELHI: Oil & gas stocks Petronet LNG (down 2.77 per cent), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (down 2.37 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (down 2.19 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 1.65 per cent), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (down 1.30 per cent) and Oil India (down 0.85 per cent) were trading in the negative zone in afternoon trade on Tuesday.
The S&P BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.63 per cent down at 15,709 around 02:45 pm (IST).
However, shares of Reliance Industries (up 1.93 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 0.82 per cent), Castrol India (up 0.76 per cent) and Indraprastha Gas (up 0.14 per cent) were trading up around that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 6 points up at 33,040, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 10 points down at 10,215.
Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 21 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.
Reliance Industries, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra & Mahindra, Axis Bank, Lupin and ICICI Bank were among the gainers in the Sensex index.
On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro, Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Sun Pharma and Adani Ports were among the top losers.
