Market Now: BSE Oil & Gas index in the green; GAIL, RIL, ONGC among top gainers
NEW DELHI: Oil & gas stocks GAIL (India) (up 2.62 per cent), Reliance Industries (up 0.80 per cent), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (up 0.65 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (up 0.58 per cent) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (up 0.13 per cent) were trading up in afternoon trade on Monday.
The S&P BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.41 per cent up at 15,780 around 01:40 pm (IST).
However, shares of Petronet LNG (down 0.78 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (down 0.70 per cent), Castrol India (down 0.43 per cent), Oil India (down 0.27 per cent) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (down 0.06 per cent) were trading in the negative territory around that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 24 points down at 33,319, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 5 points down at 10,279.
Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.
Coal India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, NTPC, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto and Reliance Industries were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.
ICICI Bank, Cipla, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India and HDFC were among the top losers among the Sensex stocks.
