Market Now: BSE Midcap index in the red; Reliance Communications plunges 5%
NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Midcap index was trading 0.19 per cent down at 16,500 around 01:15 pm (IST), with shares of Reliance Communications (down 4.53 per cent), SJVN (down 3.07 per cent), Shriram City Union Finance (down 2.74 per cent), Biocon (down 2.60 per cent) and Union Bank of India (down 2.50 per cent) as the top losers.
However, shares of Vakrangee (up 5.31 per cent), NBCC (India) (up 3.24 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (up 3.18 per cent), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (up 1.87 per cent) and Bharat Forge (up 1.58 per cent) were trading up in the BSE Midcap index around that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 86 points down at 32,948, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 37 points down at 10,188.
Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.
Axis Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Lupin, Bajaj Auto, Cipla, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki were among the gainers in the Sensex index.
On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro, Power Grid Corporation, Tata Consultancy Services, Sun Pharma, Asian Paints and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation were among the top losers.
