Market Now: BSE Capital Goods index falls over 1%; Larsen & Toubro top drag
NEW DELHI: Losses in the shares of Larsen & Toubro (down 2.21 per cent), GE T&D India (down 1.85 per cent), Finolex Cables (down 1.80 per cent) and Va Tech Wabag (down 1.70 per cent) weighed on the BSE Capital Goods index in afternoon trade on Tuesday.
The S&P BSE Capital Goods index was trading 1.3 per cent down at 18,206 around 01:30 pm (IST).
Shares of Greaves Cotton (down 1.56 per cent), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (down 1.51 per cent), Bharat Electronics (down 1.48 per cent), BEML (down 1.32 per cent), Siemens (down 1.29 per cent), Lakshmi Machine Works (down 0.83 per cent), Carborundum Universal (down 0.42 per cent) and Thermax (down 0.41 per cent) were also in the red.
However, shares of Kalpataru Power Transmissions (up 3.53 per cent), NBCC (India) (up 3.14 per cent), AIA Engineering (up 1.48 per cent), SKF India (up 1.07 per cent), Mahindra CIE Automotive (up 0.97 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 0.78 per cent), Suzlon Energy (up 0.68 per cent) and Sadbhav Engineering (up 0.57 per cent) were trading up around that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 70 points down at 32,963, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 33 points down at 10,192.
Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.
Reliance Industries, Hero MotoCorp, Lupin, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, Cipla, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki were the gainers in the Sensex index.
On the contrary, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, Asian Paints, Power Grid Corporation, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation and State Bank of India were among the losers.
