European indices trade mixed; telecom, IT stocks gain
European indices are trading weak for the sixth consecutive session, shrugging off the weakness seen in Asian equity markets. The Stoxx Europe 600 reversed early gains to edge down 0.2% from its lowest close since September, while futures pointed to a 0.1% opening dip for the S&P 500.
Gains in shares of telecom and information technology companies helped indices in Germany and France to edge higher.
Tesco stock gained over 5% after UK regulator approved the company’s plan to take over food wholesaler Booker for $4.9 billion.
Shares of Vodafone Group and Infineon Technologies were up around 4%, leading gains in Europe, after offering encouraging guidance for 2018.
Meanwhile, FTSE 100 and DAX are trading higher whereas CAC 40 is trading in red.
